If you have read my blog, you would probably know that I am captivated by Islamic Calligraphy. Take a look at my DIY home projects so far with calligraphy {click on the image to learn how that was done}….
Islamic Calligraphy is the most popular form of Art in the muslim world. As Muslims are prohibited from drawing figural images , Muslim artists found in calligraphy a unique style to express their creativity. If you are unfamiliar with Islamic calligraphy, I explained it in this post.
Take a look at these fascinating examples of Islamic Calligraphy Art…
“Gardens of perpetual residence, whose doors will be opened to them.” Sad [50] – Qur’an. جنات عدن مفتحة لهم الابواب
The Shahada in the form of a praying man” I bear witness that there is no God but God and Mohammad is the messenger of God”
“And speak to people good [words]” Al-Baqarah [a part of verse 83] – Qur’an. وقولوا للناس حسنا
“In the name of Allah, the most gracious, the most merciful. There is no God but God, Mohammad is the messenger of God” in Kufi style calligraphy by Ibrahim Islam
“Indeed, Allah is over all things competent.” Al-Baqarah [20] – Qur’an. ان الله على كل شيء قدير
Aren’t these amazing?
I have to learn how to create such art! Anyone out there willing to give lessons? 🙂

Assalamualaikum sister, I really like your blog!
It’s very hard to find actual arabs talking about interior design on the internet ,which is such a shame because islamic architecture is so beautiful. Most blogs I find are written by white people with no real understanding of the concepts behind the pretty arabesque flowers -_-
Anywho, I think the top picture is actually a decal by this company:

I was hoping to buy some of their diwani decals, but I have wallpaper, and they need a smooth surface to apply 🙁
Keep up the good work! It’s a shame that people consider islamic architecture a thing of the past, now only non-muslims are interested in preserving our heritage! Keep blogging!
