Combining stencil designs with different colors creates impressive layered artwork. Today I’m sharing a simple idea that may inspire you to create your own Layered Islamic artwork. I started with an Islamic tile design stencil then added Arabic calligraphy on top to create an interesting piece of Islamic art.
The Arabic stencil I used is Subhan Allah Al Azeem (Glorified is Allah, the great!)
Abu Hurairah reported that the Prophet, peace be upon him, said, “There are two phrases that are light on the tongue but heavy on the scale of rewards and are dear to (Allah) the Gracious One. These are, subhanallah wa bi-hamdihi (All Glory is to Allah and all Praise to Him), and subhanallah al-azim (Glorified is Allah, the Great).” (Muslim, Bukhari, and Tirmidhi)
This was my first project with layering stencils and I loved it. Insha’Allah I plan to explore layering with more than two stencils and to use different mediums. I’m sure it’ll be fun to try new things and get those creative juices flowing. 🙂
